About me
My name is Nora Shanti Seidl.
Nora means light, Shanti means peace — and Seidl is a Bavarian beer measurement. In bavarian culture the meaning is equal to the words before.
I graduated in 2024 with an Abitur in Bavaria. After that I traveled through Asia, Europe and the Uk gaining life experiences as well as using this time to realize photo series and work on my first filmscript. Additionally, I shot my first Shortfilm in Bavaria over 2 months. Furthermore, I worked in Bavaria Filmstudios to earn money to live in India for half a year and to volunteer for humanitarian projects and work on the postproduction of my film.
Experiencing India, stepping out of familiar structures slowed me down enough to listen. I realized how rarely we pause to reflect on who we are beneath performance and productivity. During that time, my relationship with film shifted:
I believe film is one of the strongest forms of compassion. To watch a film is to offer attention, patience, and presence to another person’s inner world. In a landscape driven by speed and distraction, cinema remains a space for listening.
Being raised with different cultures and perspectives due to my multicultural backround from Iran and Germany is not something I frame through contrast, but through connection. The more different people appear, the more clearly I see what we share.
As the humanitarian Amma wrote, we are not isolated islands.
And hopefully together we can realize, we don´t have to Fight for happiness. We are happiness.
Compassion is the root I want to plant.
Film is the fruit I hope to offer.
